Yankees Game 4 Preview

This could be the final preview I have for the Yankees postseason, and even though it has dominated the site over the past two weeks, it is the playoffs. Yankees ace CC Sabathia will try to prolong the torturing of Yankee fans by dragging on this miserable series. The Tigers will throw Max Scherzer, who has two different colored eyes. Not that it helps him pitch, I just figured that to be pretty neat.

The Yankees are down 3-0 to the Tigers, who are now just one game from knocking the Yankees out of the playoffs for the third time in six years. With another win, which the Tigers will have four opportunities to do so, they will get back to the World Series for the first time since 2006.

Joe Girardi shook up the lineup again, with A-Rod still parked on the bench, Swisher will get the start in the outfield along with Gardner and Ichiro. This means the strikeout machine Curtis Granderson is the odd man out and will be joining A-Rod on the pine.

CC has the best postseason record through his first 12 starts out of any Yankee pitcher at 7-1. The workhorse will need to keep this up because as everyone across the country including myself have been saying, the Yankees anemic offense will not provide him with any run support.

One Last Thing: Each night A-Rod doesn't start it looks more and more like the beginning of the end for him in pinstripes. It's sad to see it working this way, but you have to figure a guy like Jeter would speak up to Girardi and basically demand to be in the game. Either way, A-Rod is not Jeter, and Jeter is done for the year, just like the rest of the Yankees will be if not tonight then tomorrow.

PS The game is currently in a rain delay and no start time has been determined and even though it isn't raining in Detroit yet, the weather does not look promising.

UPDATE: The game has been postponed until tomorrow at 4:07 PM ET.
