Yankees Game 3 Preview

They're done. It's over. That is all that the Yankees have been hearing over the past two days and even though the team has done nothing to prove doubters wrong, they need to tune all of that out.

The series is 2-0, but until the Tigers win four games, the Yankees are still alive. Phil Hughes will be on the mound tonight and he will be David the best pitcher on the planet in Tigers ace Justin Verlander.

Everything is stacked against the Yankees in this game. They haven't been able to hit, they lost their beat player and captain Derek Jeter to a fractured ankle, they didn't defend their home ballpark, they're Gavin Verlander, they're on the road, and they are down 0-2. The Yanks clearly have nothing to lose, and call me crazy, but this might be a good thing.

There was so much negativity at home with the booing and minimal attendance, it might be good for the Yanks to have a change of scenery. And what a better way to do it than by proving everyone wrong and topping Verlander? There is none. And that is why I will not be giving any keys to tonight's game.

The Yankees need to forget their individual struggles and follow the words of the late Al Davis and "Just Win Baby." Do whatever it takes to help the team and score more than the other guys. The team needs to come together and find a way to beat the Tigers, as a team.

2009 Hero's Mark Teixeira and Alex Rodriguez need to channel some of their magic from 3 years ago and use it tonight.
