Giants Game 12 Recap - "Classic Giants"

The Giants just never seem to want to do anything the easy way. Instead of virtually eliminating the Redskins from playoff contention, the Giants decided to leave the door wide open for them and the Cowboys as they now have only a one game lead over both of them.

Focusing more around tonight's game instead of the big picture, that was just an all around boring game. Sure RG3 played a pretty good game but the Giants beat themselves in this one and the Redskins got lucky. I'm not one to take away from opponent's after they beat a team of mine, but if you take away one of the luckiest fumble bounces I have ever seen that resulted in a touchdown, I don't know if the Giants lose this game.

The penalties didn't help the cause at all as drives were stopped prematurely on several occasions on the offensive side of the ball. Many of them were inexcusable and resulted in at best field goals. The usually reliable Lawrence Tynes missed a field goal that would have changed the ending of the game, and on top of all of that, the offense was dead in the second half.
Kevin Gilbride made many questionable play calls but I can understand why he stayed with the run even though it stopped working, because the offensive line was having a hard time pass blocking legally.

I am not concerned after this game because we will never see a college option style offense for the rest of the season, but the schedule ahead is a difficult one. The Giants have the gunslinging Saints coming into MetLife, and that is a must win game. The Giants control their own destiny still, but with their poor  divisional record, they need to keep winning in order to keep control of their destiny.

One Last Thing: Monday Night Football is the worst when your favorite team is playing. The fact that everyone else is playing on Sunday is one reason, but I hate the way that they run MNF. There is a commercial in between almost every play, and the game doesn't start until 8:40 because the pregame shows that ESPN starts at 4:00 needs almost five hours to get everything in. Give me a break.
