American League Playoff Scenarios

For all of you Yankee fans out there, you already know about how big of a game tonight is against the Boston Red Sox. If the Yanks win, they automatically win the American League East and are awarded the number one overall seed for the American League. That is a pretty simple situation, win and you earn everything you set out for in the beginning of the season. Unfortunately, that is not the only result that can happen tonight, so here are all of the possible scenarios.

The 4 teams that are still unsure who and where they are playing are the Yankees, Baltimore Orioles (vs Rays), Texas Rangers (vs A's) and Oakland Athletics (vs Rangers). The Detroit Tigers are already locked in at the 3rd seed, and they will face the 2 seed. Their position cannot change. The 1 seed will play the winner of the one game wild card playoff game.
















* - if one game playoff Thursday is forced between Yankees and Orioles it will take place in Baltimore
